That’s why I said “who to ask.” As in, who to bring it to to have it done. [emoji4]

To continue...

Engine Disassembly

You'll need to remove the cooling shrouds. Theres a bunch of 10mm bolts. I'll point out most of them...

And just to point out the rev limiter, ignitor in the earlier models, and ignition coil

Next up, removed the flywheel. 22mm socket. I used a 3 jaw puller to pop it off no problem.

Then 6 12mm bolts and the head is off. Getting there!

Head and piston are pretty funky, but under all the gunk look pretty good. Cylinder walls are very clean.

Next up, remove the 12mm bolts holding the side cover on. You may have to work this a bit, some come right off and some you have to really "work" them off depending on if the bearing comes off the crank or sticks on the crank and comes out of the cover.

Next, remove the 2 rod cap bolts. Carefully remove the rod cap and slide the piston out the top. Moment of truth... broken top ring.

Next, remove the 4 10mm nuts for the counterbalance weight guide. It pulls right out the bottom and is sealed by a big o ring.

Remove the camshaft.

Pull the upper counterbalance weight link rod off to the side a bit, and pull the counterbalance weight out. Then you can remove the crankshaft.

Now the fun begins. Start measuring things. Measure everything. Once everything has been measured and you know what you're working with, you can order parts.

Everything in this motor is in spec. No play on the counterbalance link rods. So a set of rings, gaskets, seals, valve seals, and this motor should be as good as new again
