Question about a winch?????
I am sure this question has been asked lots before now , but here goes I have a 1996 Club Car 48 volt. I want to install a 12 volt winch. What batteries do I hook it up to ???????????? ........Randy

Randy, you hook up to all of them with a first class 48v to 12v reducer rated for 30 amps !!! I don't think anything less will do

Play out this scenario in your head.....
You get stuck real bad.....you unspool 100' of cable to get out.....a couple hours later you get it unstuck.(what if?)....spool all your cable back up, get in your cart to take off and NOTHING.....why? because you just spent the last couple hours killing your batteries that were tied into the winch. Your voltage is so low the controller sensed it and shut off. Morale of the story? Get an extra battery (or 2) to run the winch or you will really be stuck or at least use an DC-DC convertor to suck the juice out of all of the batteries. |
