G-9 wont shift forward or reverse
Cables are adjusted as far as I can. Took the whole tranny apart looks perfect. The only thing I can tell is the shift arm with the fork on it that makes it go from forward to reverse sticks bad sometimes and it needs a lot of torque to move it. I think more than the cables provide. No play in the shaft and the whole tranny is clean and looks new. Help!!!

Re: G-9 wont shift forward or reverse
maybe I should have been more clear. When I dissasembled it the stock gasket was in it. It looks to me like this was the first time it was taken apart.

Re: G-9 wont shift forward or reverse
dont know I havent pulled the shaft out with the governor stuff on it yet. I guess I have to pull the clutch to do that.... right? The shifting rod seems like it catches in its housing. The one with the spring, and bolt and whatever " pellet " is in there? Can you explain to me why all that sh&% is in there? I cant think of anything else that would be impedeing its ease of motion but something in there. What do you think Mr. Wizard? Hey thanks again for all of your previous help to me.

Re: G-9 wont shift forward or reverse
Its a pretty rare problem I'd guess. Not sure how else you can find out other than inspecting it. You do not want something in there screwed up that could let loose with a part and trash the trans.
Not sure this helps but a look at the parts involved http://www.tntgolfcar.com/yamparts.php?diagramid=267 |
