Removing CC DS Axle Shafts?

Howdy fellas-

Been a while, but I'm stuck and could use a tip or two.

I'm doing the Ausco disc brake upgrade, purchased from Scotty B, on my 1990 CC DS. Managed to get the snap rings out from both sides (after holding my mouth just right and uttering a few choice words ). But, I still can't get the axle shafts to budge. Am I missing something? Shouldn't they slide out?

I tried putting the brake drums on backwards and giving them some taps with a hammer, but still no dice. Don't want to beat on it too hard unless that's what it takes. Thanks for any help.

I tried searching for older threads, but couldn't find much detail on getting them out.

They should come right out if you removed the C-Clips.

Now since it is old the bearing may be frozen to the axle tube.
Or the splines on the axle are frozen to the rear end. (seems unlikely unless it has been flooded)
Spray PB blaster on the bearing where it meets the housing and let it soak.
I think you need to pound on it a little harder.
May have to heat it a little if you are not having any luck.
You will probably need new bearings and seals.
Bearings are pressed on the axle and stay on the axle when shafts are removed.

I think I read somewhere on this forum that if they are stuck like that try a slide hammer.
