Items to Stock
Good afternoon everyone,
I've kind of thrown around the idea of working on carts in my spare time. I fixed one person's cart last week and all of a sudden I have 3-4 carts in line to be fixed. My question is, what are some parts I would need to keep in stock? The carts that I see most are cc precedent, rxv and txt. I was thinking: Front bushing kits for all three models Possibly an rxv e brake A few solenoids I plan on buying rolls of battery cable and making them as needed. I'll be crimping for now until I learn to solder correctly. What am I missing? Any input is appreciated! |

Re: Items to Stock
Problem is that there are many things that can fail. Batteries, OBC, Controllers, Solenoids, etc. It's hard to plan to fix any cart and have parts on hand to do it. I would try to find a source for parts that can ship overnight or next day. I have thought about doing the same thing here - I fix my buddies carts all the time but I don't want to make it into a real business. I tell my buddies that I work for beer and that works for me.

Re: Items to Stock
I definitely don't want to make it an all time thing. Supplementing the income a little never hurt though. The people that do work on carts around here have been unreliable. The first cart I fixed was at one place for almost 3 months and never got fixed. I picked it up one morning and fixed it on my lunch break and had it back to him that afternoon. The problem was the throttle switch on an rxv. In my opinion, they don't need to be working on carts if they couldn't figure that out.
In my opinion, other than waiting on parts or the rare problems, taking longer than 3-4 days is unacceptable. While we are on this subject, what is a fair hourly rate for this sort of stuff? I was thinking 40-50/hour. |
