Default 1985 cushman truckster carb jets

Hello all, I picked up a 1985 cushman truckster with the 22HP OMC opposed twin.

After draining all of the stale fuel and removing and properly cleaning the carb, it runs!

One problem -it runs WAY to rich! It will cover the plugs in carbon within five minutes of running.

Could anyone tell me what size main and pilot jet belong in this cart? Someone has been in the carb before, and I believe they have installed the wrong jetting.

Also, I noticed this cart has a "bypass" fuel filter - where does the bypass line hook to?

Any help would be greatly APPRECIATED! It seems like info on these particular machines is rather hard to come by!

Thanks, -Brad

Doubtful jets have been replaced as most carbs dont have replaceable jets.

A heavy float can cause a rich mixture

A blocked fuel bypass hose can cause a rich mixture

the bypass goes back to the gas tank as a fuel return.

The fuel pump can pump far more fuel than the carb can handle...that is why the bypass..without it or with it blocked, fuel pressure can overpower the needle and seat

Do the mixture screws do anything?

point cap correct? state of tune good?

Yes, all that you stated in your reply is good and functioning properly.

I rather knowledgeable about small engines, but this one is throwing me for a loop.

The carb does in fact have replaceable jets, both pilot and main. I'd like to believe that someone has in fact changed the main for the fact it seems way too big for the size of the motor.

Thanks!
