What type of lift system is on this 96 CC?
Still trying to find out more about this 96 CC Powerdrive Plus 48v I purchased a couple of months ago (until I joined BGW I did not even know that much!). The cart is lifted with 22 in tires. Can anyone tell me what type of lift system this cart has - and let me know any comments or opinions if applicable...
Many thanks in advance! |

Re: What type of lift system is on this 96 CC?
It's a Z-Bracket lift similar to the factory lift, only higher. The factory lift doesn't have that much bend in the brackets in the front, nor does it utilize a spring over axle design for the rear. This is aftermarket, although I'd like to know who makes it. I like it.

Re: What type of lift system is on this 96 CC?
Several Companies including Jakes used to make that lift. As I remember the front looks like Jakes but I dont remember the rear lift parts built like that? From quality of Z brackets I would guess Jakes?? I have seen several after market Z lifts using only one light steel or in one case a aluminum plate on each side rather than thie double plates shown ( ARE THEY ALUMINUM? ) which is far superior. The only kits like this I ever installed were CC and Jakes and I would have rather used spindle lifts rather than cut the frame anytime because there really is no going back.

Re: What type of lift system is on this 96 CC?
Thanks much for this info. I guessing you guys see that I have some work to do under this cart - but it feels very sturdy and solid - a good base to work from and to build up.
OLD MEC - the Z plates are some sort of steal though I'm not sure of the grade - but they do not seem to be a real heavy gauge. How can I tell how many inches this cart has been lifted? Is it 4 inches or 6 inches? Is there a specific way for me to measure? |

just measure the distance between the top lifted frame and the top of the bottom frame. That difference should tell you how much was lifted.

Looks like the front is 4 inches... see photo below. Guessing the back is the same as the cart seems level?

Re: What type of lift system is on this 96 CC?
yeah, the back should be 4' as well. I would measure from the top of the spring to the bottom of the axle. I think the top of the spring was originally ubolted to the bottom of the axle. See if you get 4 or 4-1/2 cause of extra leafs on HD springs vs 1 leaf stock springs.
great photo! |
