Rubbing on 3" lift?

Had a 3" jakes lift installed on my 2004 club car, along with 20" tires on 10" stormtrooper rims (Gateway). Whenever I make an extreme turn to the left, the drivers side front tire is catching the fiberglass body.

Is this normal or could my front leaf springs need replacement or something? I'm guessing it is my 195lb weight that is causing it to only happen on the drivers side, and if that's the case I thought the front springs might be the issue, but didn't know for sure.

Any thoughts?

I think the springs are weak. Those tires should clear with that lift kit ...

So would you put a replacement set of standard springs on, or something heavy duty?

That depends upon what type of driving and what kind of load you are carrying.... I have in the past cut about 5 inches off of the ends of a standard spring and simply added it below the original... 2 springs in a stack. That beefed the old spring up pretty good.
But yes, standard and hd springs are available at the dealership and aftermarket.

Well, I have HD springs in the rear and primarily I drive on the road with anywhere from 1 to 4 people on board. Usually 3 adults and 1 child. That said, I'm looking mostly for ride and handling stability, but some comfort also.

And I don't want the front end to rub.......

Just to update this thread, I finally got around to replacing the front spring today. What a pain that was. Took me a couple of hours to get the old one off and the new one back on. The hardest part was getting the new bushings and sleeve into the new spring. Those buggers were all but impossible, even with silicone spray and eventually axle grease to get them to go in.

The end result was that the old spring had about an 1" of sag on the drivers side. The new spring makes the cart sit almost completely level and there is no rubbing now on the front drivers tire during turning.

The side benefit is that the ride is much more stable and firm feeling than it was. I just used the basic spring, not the heavy duty one, but it still firmed up a huge amount over the old one.

Another update.

The new spring was installed around date of above post. Now I'm having rubbing again on front tires at extreme turn. I installed a new "regular duty" front spring. I don't really want to worsen the ride with a HD one, so what are my options? My Dad suggested that I get a piece of metal and place in as a spacer. Unfortunately like an idiot I tossed the old spring, so can't use it as a spacer.

Any thoughts? Should a brand new regular duty spring be causing rubbing again on the fiberglass body?
