1986 Marathon progress
Hello Everyone, I finally put the new wheels & tires on the cart. It changed the look completely and I wanted to share the progress. Here's a picture of what I started with and how it's going. Still needs more work but thanks to all that have helped.

Man! That looks awesome! I just bought a ‘93 marathon, you mind me asking where you got the front basket from! Great looking ride!

Great looking cart. I started something similar on a 1988 Marathon.

Re: 1986 Marathon progress
Thanks guys its been a work in progress for the past year.
Nickbdavis21 I bought the basket from a local cart shop that has a golf-cart graveyard. Its not for my cart specifically but i cut off some metal tabs the brackets had and drilled some extra holes on the carts to make it work. |

Re: 1986 Marathon progress
Where did you buy the 48 volt. Inversion kit? Did it come with a motor?

Re: 1986 Marathon progress
The motor is from D&D motors and it's the largest on they have. They also sold me the controller. The whole conversion kit I bought off Scotty B's website. The only thing i had to source outside of those two was for the foot pedal. Please keep in mind my cart is a 86 body but I pulled the rear axle off a 94 cart at a scrap yard. Don't know what cart you have but hope this helps.

Re: 1986 Marathon progress
On your rear axle swap, how did you correct for the spring width?

Re: 1986 Marathon progress
GolfNfool, the foot pedal is a curtis accelerator - FP6 0-5K Ohm Pot Box. I think my local golf cart repair shop was able to get it under $100 but online its closer to $250.
five5cooks, if youre referring to the leaf springs, no adjustment needed. The 86 and 91 Marathons must have had almost identical rear end build minus the motor direction. If youre referring to the shocks, it was also very similar until i tried to mount the very large motor. I had to weld bolts to my lift kit and install one on the front side of the rear axle and one on the back side. Let me know if you need pics. |

Re: 1986 Marathon progress
My mistake I thought you were using a 94 rear end. I ended up with one from a 95 medalist and it feels like maybe it is an inch or so narrower than the 86. I can’t seem to wrap my head around shifting it back perfectly perpendicular without moving a spring hanger.
