Arrow 1984-1991 Gas Club Car Governor Adjustment

Here's a graphic showing how to adjust the governor on the older KF82 flathead carts. The governor rod can also be removed altogether for maximum speed, but damage to the motor can result if pushed too hard.

Since almost all the DS's that come through my shop have rear seats & tops, it's a pain to get at that adjustment screw - behind the driven clutch and not accessible from above without removing a LOT of stuff. But can still be done - barely.

I’ve tried every adjustment on this governor. Can’t make it up a hill. Any other options?

Adjusting the governor isn’t gonna make any difference climbing hills. It only changes how fast the cart will run on flat ground.

You need torque to climb hills. Torque is significantly degraded by a worn drive belt and/or clutches. Also engine compression and engine health will affect the torque to be able to climb hills as well.

It would be best if you started a new thread to ask the experts here instead of responding to this one about the governor adjustment since it is not related.
