Hard first start of the day
I have had this happen twice lately with my vc460
First start of the day acts like it's not getting the fuel(it will crank but not turn over) I have to hold the pedal full open to get it to run when starting from a cold start Otherwise it runs fine I did have it do this after the cart had sat for a bit and the engine had cooled but it would take half throttle to get it to run It's weird |

Re: Hard first start of the day
I find mine starts best by pumping the pedal.Since there is no accelerator pump guessing the throttle variations create a richer condition when the throttle rapidly closes.I only need to do this when the engine is dead cold.

My Lifan clone did the same thing. EVERY time when cold had to pump the pedal to get it going. Once warm, would start right up.

I did manage to get the stock choke to work and the cart started right up Going to go back to the group 75 battery so the factory choke works properly My stock engine was the same way on cold starts without using the choke(it would bug the crap out of me at times) |

Re: Hard first start of the day
I tried starting it and lightly pushed the factory cc choke and it started up on first hit
I kept the throttle low to aid in starting while it was cranking |

Re: Hard first start of the day
If its a Vegas, crank the idle screw out some to richen the idle and it will start better cold. Its on the head side next to the carb spacer.
Usually with lawn carbs if you apply over about 1/4 throttle the air going through is not fast enough to pull out the fuel on a starter, so it gets no gas to start cold when it needs extra fuel cold. If you pump it, it closes and pulls some fuel out with the vacuum and flow, then you open pump it goes into the cylinder. I think they start best at just above idle but very hard to find that spot on a cart and easy to pump it. I always started my stock G9 pumping it about 0-30% throttle and the clone starts great that way too. If I ever get my new CV carb on there it is a pumper, they say they start really nice. |

Re: Hard first start of the day
LOL, NO!!! I knew it! Mostly yard, garden, family, holiday, other projects, work.....all adds up to no cart play time. And the thing is * huge! I hope it fits in there. I might start calling it the JHolmes carb, you knew but I didn't lol. May take a lot more fabbing to move it off the top of the engine like I had planned to put it, if it will not fit there.
