Default Plum Quick Bandit with DCX 500

I just installed a Plum Quick Bandit motor along with a DCX 500 controller in my Club Car IQ. Also upgraded all cables, solenoid, diode, charge resistor, etc. Have not been able to get a hold of Plum Quick via phone or email. I need to know how much current this motor can accept - since the controller output is programmable up to 100%. I assume it can handle the 500 amps, but I don't know.

Also, TahoeDawgZ71 can you PM me please? I am brand new to the forum, I need some parts for my Club Car and I don't have privileges to PM you. Thanks!

Don't ASSume anything ever !!!

I'd be cautious of feeding more than 300 amps to a Bandit motor without confirmation from PQ....

The controller works like a garden hose, you can go larger but if the nozzle is restricted it will only flow that much water.
In other words, the motor will draw only as much as it can the controller allows more available current flow to it but that doesn't mean it will draw 500 amps. The thing the hurts motor is when you bind them, If it stalls and you keep the pedal down it will overheat and burn up. Stalling and heat it the number one reason for motor failures.

Error on the side of caution. I generally restrict stock sepex motors to 400 amps. 85% is the equivalent output setting

Thanks everyone. Does anyone know if Plum Quick is still in business? They don't answer their phone, return phone messages or emails. Maybe they take a long summer break?

Those guys are always super busy and usually it is just two of them there working away. They will get back to you but may take them a little bit.
