Bypassing the OBC on 96 DS club Car.
Hi there people. I usually just lurk on this site, I have been pressed into service to help a local Church repair a cart they furnish their beloved, retired preacher who is now handicapped and uses it to go to the mail box and the fish pond. What is the good, bad and ugly of removing the OBC and installing the automatic timer setup in this 96 48 volt DS cart. Can this automatic timer be bought for 48 volt chargers? I have seen some for 36 volt carts. Anybody got a brand name and part number. Thanks in advance for the info. I appreciate all the knowledge I see displayed on this forum. Gene Davis Tennille, Ga.

Re: Bypassing the OBC on 96 DS club Car.
Hi I have to bypass the OBC on a 96 Clubcar DS and the bypass kit that was sent to me does not plug up to the controller plug where it was disconnected from the OBC. the plug has 3 wires coming from the controller which are Red, Yellow, and Brown. On the bypass plug I have to take apart the wires since the plug is different and won't connect. the Bypass plug brings Red and Blue wires. Does anyone know how these would go connected?

Re: Bypassing the OBC on 96 DS club Car.
I assume you have a Series cart with the big lever for Forward and Reverse.
You do not need that by-pass harness, specially since what they sent you was designed for a different cart (Sepex). All You need to do is disconnect the Yellow wire from the Solenoid small post that used to go to the OBC. You then run a new wire (14ga) from the same solenoid small post to Controller B- (or pack negative battery post). |
