From what it looks like you should have brake lights. Pull the two wires apart at the red connectors. Pull on the connector not the wires. When you have them apart connect the two wire going to the rear of the cart together. If you now have brake lights call Revolution Golf Cars in the morning for a new brake switch. If not let me know and we can check the brake switch. Do you have an ohmmeter?

Yes, unless it's got aftermarket lights.

We connected the two red wires and nothing happened. We do have an ohmmeter. Please advise.

Thanks.

Hook the Red wire to the Tan wire. Both of these wires come from the vehicle lighting harness. With the keyswitch on and tow/run switch in the RUN position, once this connection is made, the brake lights should turn on. If they don't, you've got an issue in your wiring, brake relay behind the dash, or the tail lights themselves.

Okay, TahoeDawg, we did what you said and we still have no lights. Although we weren't quite sure how to use the ohmmeter, we did check the circuit on each line (red and tan/black) and each had a reading of about .5 (not sure exactly.) I think that means that the wires themselves are carrying current?

Hmm...

I don't want you to use an ohm meter. I want you to plug the two wires into each other. This will bypass the existing brake light switch. If the lights work with the switch bypassed, you'll know that the switch is the issue.

Yikes, the lights went on! Can we verify if it is the switch before I buy it? Is that the expensive one I've seen online-- like $120?

btw... you're awesome!

It's definitely a bad switch if the lights came on when you bypassed it. No doubt about it. As far as whatever you've found online, It might be the same switch I want to sell you, but it's not the same price. I'll send you a private message.

Well, we installed the brake light switch pad (it was easy, thankfully) but we still don't have actual brake lights that come on only when the pedal is depressed. The back lights are brighter than before but they stay on continuously as long as the key is on.

What should be the next step?
