Default Spindles on lifted carts

Do you guys with drop axles run spindle extenders? My BU kit has them but they keep coming loose so I was wondering if the workhorse has raised arms on it or what others were doing.

Yep I had that same problem with my workhorse lift kit from them. The bad thing is they will start bending when you have to keep tightening them and eventually they will round off around the spindle arm and always be loose.
The ST workhorse spindles do have raised arms. I have a pair on my Arctic Cart and they are much safer.

Oh also those tie rod extenders will put stress on the spindles and they will break easily if you hit something. I went through several spindles on my workhorse because of that. One time I was at an off road park and just barely tapped a tree with the side of the front tire and it broke the spindle right at the extender.

Where did you buy them? Do the stock hubs work on them?

The st spindles came with a lift kit I bought from a local cart shop. The kit came with new st spindles, hubs, tie rods and ends plus the lift. It was a pretty good deal for $250. Replacement spindles alone are expensive...I know from experience.

Has anyone welded them on? Would this be possible? How did you break a spindle?

If its cast "iron" I would not even attempt welding it because it aint gonna happen. If it is 'cast steel" or the tubing with a bolt kind..oh heck yea I would weld it in a heartbeat if I could save that kind of money. I wouldn't however do it on someone elses cart for liability reasons.

If you have a stick arc welder they do make casting rods to weld with. I used them when I welded castings on to window guards back in the day.
