Question need a little oomph in my 87 gas CC

My 87 gas CC seems to have plenty of power until I get to a long hill. Slows to a slow walk. The only things I've done is change the oil and plug. Any ideas on a little more hill pulling Power? what engine does the 89 have? There is a thicker cable that looks like it is unhooked by the throttle linkage. When I hook it up the engine won't start. I've left it off. I'm not sure whats been done but my guess is that the previous owner has changed some things. Thanks Steve

1987 gasser? That's a 23 year old motor you have there, and probably 23 year old clutches. Let's hope you don't have the original belts? I would start with belts and clutches - AS LONG as you have good engine compresion

I can't tell you enough what an hours labor charge from a good dealership can be worth! Just tell them to look her over and give you some estimates on what they see it might need. Then you can judge what to do...

Hey, i went to cartpartsplus and ordered an new sarter belt $11.95, anew drive belt $28.95 and a club car power kit for $44.95. If this doesn't give me a little more power i will have my drive clutch machined. Thanks Steve
