Default 2010 36V EZGO Sport - Barely Moves

Hello all. My cart has had this issue for about a year now. When pressing the pedal it tries to roll, but doesn't go anywhere. What's really frustrating is the issue comes and goes. It typically happens when I change directions F/R. It can sit for an hour or two and just start working again. As stated it started about a year ago, and it was time for new batteries so I assumed that was the problem. After buying 6 new Trojans, it still had the issue. I have brought to my local EZGO dealer, but it never happened to him the whole week he had it. I use the cart mostly during hunting season every weekend and never had a problem this fall/winter. But after sitting this Spring with minimal use, the probem is back. Since my dealer was of no help, I've changed a few of the least expensive parts hoping to solve the issue. They include: New solenoid, microswitch, inductive throttle sensor, and the F/R switch. I have a NCX 300 controller, and it never blinks an error when this happens.

I don't want to drop $400 on another controller just to find out that it is not the issue. Loading up a powerless golf cart to take to the dealer is not that easy either. Has anyone seen this issue before? I have searched the web extensively and have not found an issue just like this. Thanks.

Does the solenoid click when you press the pedal?

Okay, that means the problem is in the high current circuit.

What is the battery pack voltage when the cart is at rest?
What is the battery pack voltage after the solenoid clicks?

---------------
Put rear of cart on jackstands so it doesn't take off unexpectedly and run over somebody or something.
Connect a DVM between the B- and M- terminals on the NCX controller.

Push pedal just far enough to make solenoid click. You should read full battery pack voltage.

What is the battery pack voltage when the cart is at rest? 37.4 volts - Batteries have been just sitting for about 10 days.

When I did this test, the cart starting working again, but the voltage only read 2 volts. Did you say this should read 36 volts?

JohnnieB, thanks for your help so far, and sorry for the delayed response. Been at work.

By "full battery pack voltage", I mean the voltage ought to be whatever the voltage is between the main positive and main negative terminals is at the time. In this case, the battery pack voltage you measured was 37.4V, so when the pedal is pushed just far enough to get the solenoid to click, the voltage between the B- and the M- terminal on the controller ought to be 37.4V, or very close to it.

When the pedal was pushed down further, the voltage between B- and M- will decrease.

------------
Since the cart started working again, you might have some bad connections on the cables. The air in the battery compartment is corrosive, so the cable connections have to be take apart and cleaned occasionally.

OK, I'll replace the cables and see if the problem returns. Thanks again.
