Default Old club car remodel

I have a buddy wanting to upgrade an old club car the only tag I can find is 48091. Is there anyway to look that up?

There should be a tag with a serial number somewhere that starts with AG1234566 or some other number after the AG

Thanks for the reply, do you know where this tag could be located? The only one I found was in the engine compartment and it had the number on it I posted.

Do you have a picture of the cart? Is the body made of fiberglass or plastic?
the number you posted isn't any ID number that I recognize.

It should have an ID tag on the dash rail below the glove box to the right of the key switch panel. On older carts it was a small plate riveted on and could have fallen off or been removed.

If not there, remove the key switch panel and look on the upright behind the panel, there may be one there.
I believe the older carts may have also had a tag on the inside frame rail near the back of the cart on the right side, but I could be wrong about that.

Worst case, what engine is in it? That can give you some idea of the year range. 82 to 91 had the old KF82 flathead motor.
92 and up will have a Kawasaki FE290 motor. It will have an aluminum rocker cover that says OHV on it. If the engine is gone or not original then we could use the rear axle design to determine year range.

I am pretty sure it has the OHV. But he is making sure when he gets around it later. It appears to have a muffler on it but is extremely loud. Is there any way to quiet this engine or is it doomed to be forever loud?

If its the 290 motor it should be pretty quiet. Muffler may be rusted out or have been "modified" by a previous owner. They're a little pricey but still available from Club Car last I checked.

When cranking the motor pay attention to the rotation direction of the clutch.
If its counter clockwise that will be a 92-96 cart.
If its clockwise it will be a 97+.

Thank you for the great information. With a full blown revamp in the plans i'm trying to get ahead of the curve. We are looking mainly at swapping the body, street legal upgrades, just a radio and a few things, and he would like it to be quieter. The exhaust seems to be coming out of the muffler but i did not get to check it for cracks and such up close. It is pretty loud but that may not be a fair statement with most of the local golf courses here having quiet tech carts. I do know one thing. It cranks 3 times a year like its been run every week. This thing has a great motor on it.

Hopefully this will be 1 picture of the cart and some pictures of the engine! I’m thinking it’s pretty old cart but not exactly sure on year. I don’t have it in my possession yet. My buddy took the pictures
