Re: Headlight adjustment
Well, it looks like we all basically got the same results...not much of a change.

Re: Headlight adjustment
I also attempted to lower mine . Very little change and a lot of time accessing the lights and putting the front end back together . The lifted profile and high placement of the light are key contributors .

Re: Headlight adjustment
Indeed the height of the headlights is a frustration in particular
for on coming traffic, and that given the height of the beam pattern it is of very little help illuminating the road ahead...Even in the non lifted I40... Hope an easy solution comes forth from ICON.. Still it is a good cart.. Best wishes Happy cartin' |

Re: Headlight adjustment
Putting a stack of washers behind the top set of screws that hold the housing in would probably solve it?

Re: Headlight adjustment
I was able to get the passenger side knob to bring the light down a bit, but the drivers side knob did nothing. Don't bother trying to reach these, you will end up with scraped forearms and disappointment. Will give the washers a shot this weekend.

Re: Headlight adjustment...solved?
I figured out the adjustment, though waiting for night to test.
1) Access adjustment knobs through the cupholder dash, just pull up with two hands at each cupholder to release the top. 2) Use pliers on the LOWER knob, turn CLOCKWISE to bring low beams down. 3) It will take a few turns from the pliers, a bit at a time. Observe the center of the lense shifting lower with turns. Moved each side down to eliminate the lower gap around lense, may need to turn it more, will find out tonight. |

Re: Headlight adjustment
What do you mean "moved each side down to eliminate the lower gap around lense"?
So, just crank the lower of the two knobs with pliers, and that's it? When I was screwing with it, I had my garage door closed and lights on to watch them drop, but I was only going by hand. Are you actually able to get them adjusted with some decent improvement or is it very minor? |

Re: Headlight adjustment
My i40L now seems fine with headlights lowered as far as I can with the lower knob.
When you move the lower knob with pliers clockwise, you will reach a limit of no further range. The lense will hit the bottom of the inner housing, but it puts the beams on the road about 25 feet out. I will test again when fully dark out. |

Re: Headlight adjustment
I'm going to trust you and try it next week. My forearm was all scraped up last time so I hope you're right!
