Default installing Scotty's digital meter

Do you all recommend an in line fuse or just go direct to the batteries?

I had the other meter there, so I just used those wires.

Wire it direct to battery with 28Ga wire, or smaller, then the wires will act like a fuse.

I'm only half kidding. It really depends on how much you trust your own wiring abilities.
Even with catastrophic internal failure the meter won't draw much, but the two wires connecting it to the battery could draw a lot of amps if they somehow managed to touch each other.

Even a catastrophic short won't hurt the meter. My dog tested it.
This meter is one tough hombre`
