Default 48v Villager 6 IQ on 64v or 72v

I recently purchased a 2007 Villager 6 48v IQ plus system and absolutely LOVE this cart. I have big plans for making her unique; one of which is to get some more speed and run time to enjoy it more. My thought was to replace the 8 - 6v batteries with 8 - 8v batteries (maybe 9 - 8v batteries if that makes it easier to convert). My questions are has anyone done anything like this to the IQ carts and what were the results? Will the stock 48v sepex motor handle the additional 16v sent to it by the updated battery pack? From what I understand it currently has a 500a controller - it pulls pretty well.

Thanks for the input and suggestions.

You will need a new controller, solenoid and charger at a minimum to convert from 48v to anything higher.

I assume I would also lose regen braking. I actually like that feature as it helps control stops when loaded. Not sure how much "regen" actually extends run time but sounds great in theory...lol.

There's a reason nobody has done it before. The words, "Do you smell something burning?" come to mind.

Yes it's been done. No, there wasn't a fire either.

You will need a new controller, solenoid, charger and the per say motor will need to be replaced more than likely. The stock regan motors are not acceptable to higher voltage with out mods.
U can buy a alltrax controller with the regan effect but I doubt u use it much.
72 volts would be easier to do for charger and controller's. The alltrax are all good for 48 through 72, but what I have found is they like the max voltage better than any other setting.
Good luck with it.

I was more referring to just adding batteries without changing most everything to accept higher voltages.

My main purpose is to increase the run time with the added benefit of a little extra torque and speed. My thinking was to increase voltage to reduce amp draw resulting in longer range. Since adding more batteries is next to impossible due to storage restraints I figured this is the best option. I suppose using a sepex motor designed for the higher voltage should still yield the longer run time I'm looking for provided I get the right motor. Any suggestions on which to use?

Thanks to everyone for your input.

Call Robby @ PQ he can tell u what u need for the IQ cart and if the motor will take the extra voltage.

I would go to 72 volts myself.

72v would be doable if I could find a good place to put the 9th battery.
