Default Navitas AC conversion diode requirement

So, I decided to go AC conversion for my 2016 CC Precedent. I currently have a 500 amp Alltrax and when I upgraded, Alltrax requires 2 diodes on the solenoid. I can’t find in the Navitas instructions what the diode requirement is. I can’t remember for the life of me what the stock solenoid had for a diode. Anyone know?

Also, anyone interested in an Alltrax 500 amp controller with fan, it’s for sale.

Thanks!

I have the Navitas Ac system. The directions say you do not need the diode on the the main terminals. I did use the fly back diode on the small terminals. Sergio may give his opinion on this because I am not fully convinced you don’t need it.

I saw a YouTube video that said to remove the diode on the large posts but it didn't say anything about the small ones. I have a call into Navitas to see what they say.

Spoke to them yesterday, no diode or resistor are required.

It seems like sometimes the manufacturer recommends not having a diode since that is a big source of problems due to consumers installing the diode backwards.

You should always have a flyback diode on Solenoids activated by an electronic device for insurance.

I just noticed the installation instructions for the Navitas TAC2 AC under flash code 2-4:
Check for loose wires. If there is a diode
across the solenoid check that it is not
shorted.
It does not say "remove" the diode.

Navitas is saying not to install a diode or a resistor on the solenoid.

Is the diode what goes across the large terminals or the small terminals? What is it protecting against?

Interesting statement on flash 2-4 they don’t say large terminals or small terminals for the diode. I seem to remember Sergio saying the diode on the large terminals protected the controller on a DC motor from the resurgence current generated by a DC motor.
