Default 2001 EZGO TXT shock question

I have a 2001 EZGO TXT gas cart with a 6 inch lift kit. Attached is a picture of the shock that was on it, pretty sure it is not supposed to be bent like that. I did notice they put the shock brackets backward so the angle part that the shock goes in was pointing down and I think from videos I saw it should be point up. I need to replace the shock and now sure what size to look for. Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like someone put an extension on the end of that shock...That bent end is usually the bottom in my experience, upside down would collect water. Generally, lifts use the stock shock lengths and simply relocate the lower mount point by use of a bracket, or simply relocation of the mounting plate. I haven't seen that extension used. A photo of the suspension as it was set up would help. Sounds like maybe a home brew lift? A standard shock with a similar coupler and threaded rod would work for a little while, until similar impact on that suspension occurs again.

Thanks. Yes after I posted the thread I noticed the extender on it and figured if that was not on there it would have been fine. I will get the stock shocks and go from there. Thanks again.

Those extenders are commonly used, but fitted to the top of the shock, not the bottom at the axle bracket.
