If you can do it safely take a spin and see if the belt goes to top of primary, if so its working right. Then its just a matter of gearing/engine rpm to make it faster. You can get HS gears, go to larger tires and lift, or mod the engine, or do more than one of those. HS 8:1 gears or 22 tires usually give 8-10mph with no other changes. My yamaha with a cam and rod and other mods did 41mph down the road probably near 6K rpm, now its faster but I have not speed run it due to it getting touchy steering at that speed. For a while it did 38gps with stock cam and rod and 5200 rpm or so and went nice and straight after I did some fine tuning, but over 40 it don't. I need to do my kingpins and stuff but it could be my lift which I made myself long ago. Either way I don't go on road or over 35mph very much, I built it for more power mostly which it has.

Also my driven clutch is not closing or openong all the way. The belt sits halfway down the driven clutch at idle

one of my good friends has the duro 18, same problem as yours,
in the end, he wound up using a set of 6:1 gears, he also ditched the tank and used an electric fuel pump, he got his header fron VC...

" now it's respectable"
