Default 1995 ezgo medalist power, new batteries, no power to the solenoid

Hello,

I have a 1995 ezgo medalist. last year the batteries took a dive so I purchased brand new batteries.
It always seem way under powered. It was start out fast then immediately drive slower and stay that way. Going up any hill was a task.

Other than that Everything was fine . I had an new solenoid laying around so I installed it and now nothing happens when I hit the pedal. I have power but when I press the pedal I dont have any volts at my solenoid. I put the old one back in and same thing. I checked the wiring and all looks good to me. The only thing I did was I seen a wire off the f&r switch and seen where they had hooked it up...i then found out it was the reverse alarm. so i just unhooked it the way they had it.

So a)I'm assuming there is a bad connection somewhere? I dont have a reed switch on this model so I dont know how they went about it on this model.

I'm a noob at electrical so any help is appreciated.

The diode on the solenoid's small terminals is backwards. The end with the silver band should be attached to the small terminal with the red wires on it.

Being installed backwards, a nearly direct short was placed between the battery pack's B+ and B- terminal, so a lot of amps when the pedal was pushed and it is very likely that one or more switches were taken out. MS-2, Keyswitch and Pedal switch are in series with the solenoid coil. Pedal switch is the one most often taken out, but could be any or all.

Attached is a schematic for your cart and a service manual.

BTW: Your cart has a series drive

does it also matter which way the resistor goes in?

No. Amps flow in both directions equally in a resistor.

12V Lights are not part of drive system. It is all 36V. Keyswitch has separate contacts for 12V accessories and 36V drive system.

cool. I'm super dumb when it comes to electronics. I read the instructions to test the pedal microswitch and I dont get this part.

"probe the white wire at the ITS with the positive probe and attach the negative probe to the -B battery"

am I running a jumper back tot he battery negative lead?

Super appreciative for the help!

I found both parts, pedal micro switch and m2 but cannot find the key switch that is in line with the solenoid. any idea what the part # is?
