Default 1994 G11 285 motor swap with a G9

New to this forum, but I have gotten great advice reading, but I am now stuck with my latest project. I have a G11 - (1994 I think) with a bad motor. I found a 285 out of a a G9 that fit right in it. My problem is that I do not have any spark.

The G9 did not have a low oil shut off so that was nothing to plug into that wire. It also had a different plug coming out if the engine of what I assume comes off the ignition. I did cut and spliced the connection so it would fit my wiring. The wires were all the same so I thought it would work. However now I do not get any spark and am now stuck with what to do next.

Should I take the flywheels off both and replace the ignition (stator) not sure of what the terminology would be for this engine putting the G11 stuff onto the G9 motor or is that a different fix.

Electricity is my weakest part of working on engines, which is why I am looking for some advice.

Thanks in advance.

You will have to swap all the electrical bits off the blown G11 motor on to the G9 motor to get it to work in a G11. Too bad you started chopping before reading-up here. Look in the "stickies" above for the one about engine swaps for more in-depth details.

I just changed the flywheel. Put in the low oil sensor and changed out the magneto and still no spark. I am going to go out with a volt meter, but I am not sure what to test. Any suggestions?

Dig around on here for a wire diagram (or i may be able to find one for g11 at work). Knowing which color wires are what would help.
