Default 1205M Wiring Questions

So, I picked up a Curtis 1205M-5606 Controller and "Beast" motor for a good price on Marketplace. Pull the controller cover off of my '01 EZGO TXT Series cart with a Curtis 25864G09 3-spade controller, and instantly I realize my 1205M has 4-spades . I think I figured out what to do with the ITS wires on the new controller, but I am uncertain on the high amp spades. On top of that, I am upgrading to 48v, swapping to SW202SUPER DUTY Reversing Contactors, and MZJ400A solenoid. I took a million pictures of the original 36v factory setup, so I can always put it back, if needed. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that would be helpful for my install?

Nobody has done this before, or has any info of at least how to hook up the controller? BTT

Patience. Your post will be read, and hopefully answered, when the right people are available.

Here is a schematic for a 1204/5 in a series drive.

Only question is whether the 1205 controller you have is programmed for an ITS throttle.

Here's some other stuff that might come in handy.

Thanks, JohnnieB, for the diagram, notes on throttle types, and the manual! I believe it was configured for 48V and ITS throttle based on the guy I purchased from taking it off a late 90's TXT, but I have access to a Curtis handheld programmer and will verify.

Which reminds me... Any suggestion on other parameters to change to increase performance while I have it connected to an OEM level programmer?

Nothing other than max amp throughput.

I honestly don't know much about the 1205 and have no desire to learn.

Exclamation Re: 1205M Wiring Questions

OK, finally dove into this project this weekend. Studied the wiring diagrams and threads about install. Got it all hooked up and finally put power to it today and the reversing contactor clicks like it is supposed to, but the solenoid doesn't click when the key switch is on and you push the pedal, BUT the resistor solenoid SMOKES! I am not sure where I went wrong, but after googling "EZGO smoking resistor solenoid" the consensus seems to be that the controller is bad :(. Are there any steps I can take to test it? Any suggestions on next step?
Edit: I have access to a handheld programmer for the controller. Could I tell anything by hooking it up to that?

The solenoid not clicking is the problem. The precharge resistor smoking says the controller is passing amps to the motor, but the solenoid contacts are not closed, so motor amps are trying to be drawn through the resistor and the resistor gets mighty hot when that happens.

B+ on the red wire from the pedal switch goes to two places, solenoid coil and controller Pin-1. If everything is wired correctly and in good health, the solenoid should energize and the controller should power up. What is happening in your cart is the controller is powering up, but the solenoid isn't energizing.

Make sure you are getting B+ to one side of the solenoid coil and B- to the other.
