'04 EzGo TXT Series upgrades?
Any major upgrades I should do to my cart? Any known problems with them I could avoid? I would like to get 20mph & have plenty of low end torque for getting up hills. Obviously not going to get up then @ 20mph but I don't want to worry about it either.
One thing I have read is making it a 48v and keeping the series motor. Any thoughts? |

Re: '04 EzGo TXT Series upgrades?
The typical top speed of an '04 series drive cart is about 14 MPH with a 36V battery pack and stock height (18" tall) tires.
That is 3252 RPM at the motor and upping the pack to 48V will be increase both RPM and Torque by 33.3%. That will be 4245 RPM, which is 18.7 MPH on 18" tall tires. If you go to 20" tall tires, the speed would increase by 11% to 20.8 MPH, but you would also lose 10% of the torque, but you gained 33.3% torque by upping to 48V, so the net torque gain is 23% over stock. To minimize speed loss on hills, use the shortest tires that will give you the top speed you desire on level ground. To up the pack voltage you will have to upgrade the controller and solenoid. The high current cables (all 13 or 14 of them) should be 4Ga or thicker. Consider going to a super-duty F/R switch or better still, a reversing contactor. A 48V pack using 170AH 8V batteries will give you about the same range as the stock 36V pack with 225AH 6V batteries. I'd use an Alltrax SR controller: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/series-controllers.html There is a lot of good upgrade info on that website. |

We make a kit with the switch and detailed drawings for your cart.
Look on my website linked below. The super duty SW202 is the heaviest duty F&R option available |

Roger that. Nothing as sweet as ditching the F&R lever on a series cart for a rocker switch with a positive CLANK
