HELP Valve Adjustment for 89 EZGO
Can anyone out there tell me how to adjust the valves on my 89 ezgo robin engine.
Had the motor rebuilt about 2 years ago, but never had the valves adjusted since then. I did not know this was supposed to be done on a regular basis. I can do it myself, if someone will HELP. Thanks, Phillip |

Re: HELP Valve Adjustment for 89 EZGO
Well, I kinda thought that, but the local golf cart repairman said that was my problem.
I thought I needed a New Ignitor. Just doesn't seem to have any good fire when first trying to start it. Just turns over and over for about a full minute, then it starts to fire, but by that time the engine is flooded. Can you help?? Thanks, Phillip |

That's not saying much for your local golf cart repair guy.
Need to do a compression test going in both direction. |

Re: HELP Valve Adjustment for 89 EZGO
Well, I thought about that, but this came up so suddenly, that I just didn't suspect that being the problem.
It run and started within about 3 revelutions for the last 3 months, then the other day when the grandkids got on it, it started this mess. Plus I don't have a compression gauge, and I'm not going to take it to the local guy!! |

Re: HELP Valve Adjustment for 89 EZGO
Places like autozone will let you borrow one. it just gives a base line as to what/where to start looking for the problem. have you tried replacing the spark plug, air filter or anything like that? those could be things that may be a problem.

Re: HELP Valve Adjustment for 89 EZGO
Thanks again! I will check all that tomorrow. Air filter and new spark plug, and check the compression,
How many times should I turn the motor over in each direction? And what is the compresion base line. Thanks, Phillip |
