Default G1 primer bulb?

seems like I need to redo the fuel lines, pick-up, bushing, and filter. Loosing prime when lifting rear of cart and when tank is low. I did notice that the fuel line was coming out of the top of the tank, not the side as I saw in some pics. When I first got the engine started(after the rebuild), I needed to hook a electric pump up to it to prime the system. It seem to run fine on the vacuum pump after that until I lifted the rear to adjust the brakes.
Has anyone put a primer bulb (like an outboard) in the fuel line? Seems to be a good idea if the cart has problems picking up fuel after running out or picking up air in the line (low fuel levels, sloushing around)

Any pulse pump has a hard time getting prime (after running out) if the fuel level is below the pump, IIRC the yamaha manual says to fill the tank if you run out. If it loses prime its because you have a pump issue or leaky hoses. I've never once had a problem with it in a cart in good working order, I'd say you have a leak or pump issue. It is common for the lines to crack if they never been replaced. Usually the float bowl is full and will run the engine for a short time, plenty of time for the pump to get going if its working right. On the starter that pump will pump 100X what the engine needs to run WOT, has been my experience.

I have run out of gas and put a gallon in and got it running again, but it took some cranking to do it. I would check all lines including the pulse line, check tank pickup in there, check any air vents, etc.

Outboards and sleds use primers because the tank is below the engine and pump typically, but if you fill the tank a cart is not. It should work fine until it sucks air. If you jacking it up allowed the pickup to hang in the air then that could be what happened to you. I'd guess the system is weak on pumping then because they can pump it back up they just don't like to.

The plastic fuel pickup tube in the tank doesn't reach all the way down to the bottom of the tank. So when you are "almost empty" the fuel moving around prevents the tube from reaching the fuel level.

Also, on some occasions I have seen where the tube actually falls off inside the tank. Take the cap off, shine your "non flammable" flashlight into the tank and see if the tube is still connected or if it's laying on the bottom of the tank.

that's what I was thinking, where the tube is going into the top of tank and not the side, it is much higher than it's supposed to be. There is quite a bit of fuel in there to have that problem.
Where does one get the bushing and pick-up tube supplies? And then there must be a vent for the top hole, not the 5/8" bolt that is sitting there.
