i finaly found some time to work on this cart
it is a 89 carryall II with the old flat top engine i pulle dit all apart to see why it was making noises and not turning properly found the connecting rod had broken off anyone know if i can get a new rod onto the crank without completely taking this engine apart, i already fished out all the old rod parts out. also anyone have some direction on where to get this part for a good price, I called a few places and the prices range from 150 and 180 for the part seems way too high |

Re: broken rod
Engine will have to come apart. You will need to polish the crank. It siezed on the crank and that is why the rod broke I am sure. The oil slinger probably broke off also, which may have caused the rod to lock up. Rod is the most expensive part pretty much. Buy a bearing kit, gaskets, and a piston kit while your at it. Piston is probably junk also. When the rod breaks it usually takes out a piston skirt. Sorry for the bad news.

Re: broken rod
We have brand new Kawasaki FE290s for $649 Its a much better engine. Would have to change a couple brackets but pretty easy.
