Default Welding on EZ GO

Hey EZ GO folks. I have to do some welding on the battery box/frame on a 92 Marathon. Is it any danger of harming the controller?

Thanks.

Technically there is no electrical connection between the battery pack B+ or B- to the frame, BUT at the very least I'd disconnect the B+ and B- cables from the controller.

Personally, I'd remove the controller from the cart and place it no closer than 50' from the cart while welding.

Thank you JB. No batteries will be in cart. If i'm going to put it 50' feet away I might as well make it 100' to make sure.

If your welding skills are akin to mine, 100 yards is better.

Seriously, the EMI from a welding arc can damage electronics and the proper name for a controller is Electronic Speed Control.

I would also recommend wearing a "Johnnie B" hat to protect the chip we all have.....whether we know it or not !!!

Also....NEVER EVER weld wearing flip flops... don't ask me how I know.

Frayed jeans are also exciting for welding, if you want your leg to be on fire.....dont ask me how I know.

OK:
1) Put on flip flops.

2) Frayed jeans with large holes.

3) Remove controller (electronic speed control) and send to another state while welding.

Thanks guys! I think I know what to do now.
