While changing the charge port is completely unnecessary, however, if you chose to do so, just hook the blue wire from the new charge port to the small wire that used to connect to your old charge port.

Is there a 48v charger with the D-style plug? Also, where does the black wire with the box attached go? Pack + or - ?

The "little black box" is actually a battery temp sensor, and it could actually go on any battery terminal (or even just "hang off the side"). Some chargers are capable of tailoring the charge in accordance with battery temperature, and those that can have specific profiles that actually require the presence of the temp sensor. (Even if it isnt actually touching a battery, has to be present).

And, yes, pretty much any charger can be had with pretty much any plug, depends on how you order it. There are limitations for the ones using charge profiles that require a temp sensor. Most all QE chargers require temp sensor, and some profiles loaded into QuiQ chargers require temp sensor. (But, any QuiQ charger could be loaded with a charge profile that works without a temp sensor). If you got a "ezgo OEM QuiQ charger" it is loaded from the factory with a profile that probably does require a temp sensor, that can be changed, regardless of what a ezgo representative may tell you. "Nope, cant be changed" is just not true, but it is true that the owner of the charger probably cant change it. The QuiQ charger has "memory slots" for up to 10 different profiles, and ezgo only loads 1 "slot" for their OEM chargers. 9 empty slots remain. Which can be filled, changed, deleted, and refilled again as needed. It's even possible to use their QuiQ 48v charger as a 42v charger if you decided to run 7x 6v batteries (a good option on some Ezgo's & Westerns).

I got the Lester Summit 2 that is switches between 36/48V based off what you need. I am 36V now and just waiting for the controller to come in to hook up the other 2 batteries and go to 48V.
