Default EZgo limited slip differential 614756 install

Hello all!

I just wanted to post up a few pictures and some experiences for the benefit of the group. After a ton of searching I did find a definitive answer as to weather the factory limited slip 614756 Would work on my 1992 Marathon solid state.

It does! And it’s pretty awesome!

There are some good threads on axle removal etc so I just wanted to post some pics of my process and comparisons etc.

Look how much bigger the pin is. Obviously the whole *cage*/chunk is much bigger. Bigger gears etc.

1st, please don’t judge my horrible rust/corrosion or my mess of wiring..... I’m planing on pulling all the batteries etc this winter and doing some proper treatment and preservation....

I’m also completely rewiring (properly) for an Alltrax SR upgrade.

But!

When I was first checking the fit of the new dif I was freaking out because it didn’t fit up in the axle!!!
Then I realized the limited slip plates weren’t bolted tightly together. After doing that it slipped right in!

I was scared to death the limited slip would pop apart with parts flying everywhere... Maybe that’s dumb, but I clamped the 2 halves together with some simple paper binders.

After starting the proper bolts I pulled the binders out.
Then I tightened everything down.
Ultra-black RTV’d the pan back on... let it set, then tightened it down.
Put the short side axle in.
Put a whole quart of Valvoline Synthpower 75W-140 in the long axle.

Valvoline SynPower SAE 75W-140 Full Synthetic Gear Oil 1 QT https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049J5FJY..._PDLjFbSV1P9HQ

(From searching I tend to agree that these slow speed axles are better off ‘overfilled’)

Thoughts:

This is awesome!

1st worry was tearing up the lawn etc.

Tested out out by doing tight circles both directions in the lawn. No damage at all!
Great!

Went out to the gravel driveway.... if it’s going to drag/spin a wheel it would do it here.....
NOTHING! Totally planted and no sign of disturbing the gravel...

I then went to test the limited slip out!

I have wooded property that i have cut cart trails on.
I have a section that's off camber, a climb, and definitely spins the wheels every time.

A little slippage and it grabbed! Then it sat there as my OEM Curtis didn’t have the guts to get it over the hump....
limited slip = awesome....

Now I’m installing the Altraxx SR-48400
I’m expecting that to get me over the grunt of the *excitement* trail!!!!

If its electric it should. They’re not advertised as compatible with early (94 or less?)Marathon Axles but ARE compatible. They’re advertised for later models. Pretty sure your later model electric axle would work fine

I've put them in many things, including yamaha gas carts. But not All yamaha cas carts can have it. 1996-2006, 2007 G22a & 2015-2016 can for sure.

Just for the information I am pretty sure this is the same carrier used in the rxv so if you can find a used one the diff will swap.
