Charging when not in use for a time
I have been using the cart to shuttle the kids back and forth to the school bus stop for the past eight years. Replaced the batteries last year with 6-T105s.
I use a standard Power Wise charger. Replaced the charge control board back when I got the new batteries. The original board ( from 1999) had two ICs and seemed to work fine, new board has one IC, but wanted to make sure charger was perfect for new batteries since they were not cheap. It starts charge at 20A, tapers and shuts off after an hour. Now the kids will be in college and the cart will just stay idle for months at a time now. Should I charge them like every week, more often or less? '99 Freedom TXT, Stock |

Re: Charging when not in use for a time
oh ok cool, i'm from palm beach. but yes at the dealer I work at we typically charge all of our electric cars every 3-4 weeks. you definitely have a charger/battery issue if it only charges for an hour

Re: Charging when not in use for a time
But the cart is just idle. The charger only puts into the pack what it needs to come up to voltage. Why do you say there is an issue?

Re: Charging when not in use for a time
yes it does, but if it only charges for an hour and shuts off, either that means you charged it recently or your charger/receptacle/batteries have an issue. i say charge your car every 3-4 weeks because even some cars at the dealer stay there months and months, plus you don't want your voltage to drop too low, its just not good for the batteries.
