Default What would you do? - 1990 & 1993 DS

I recently "restored" a 1990 DS resistor cart. The only thing still wrong with it is that the front end is a little off center from an old fight with a steel fence post. However, it does drive straight.

I have an opportunity for a free 1993 DS resistor cart. Great, but... this was the old parts cart for aforementioned 1990. No batteries, no vglide, misc other parts and needs plenty of TLC from sitting idle covered outdoors for ~15 years.

Since the bones are better on the 1993, I am considering hauling it home, breaking it down to the frame and transferring all the running parts on her with some upgrades.

New solid state conversion (scotty's C42), swap the batteries, seats, wheels, reducer (all accessories, and new fuse box), and leaf springs and front cowl.

What would the 1990 be worth without batteries and front cowl? With new parts, I think that is all it would be missing.

Would you do it different?

If it were me, I'd sell the running cart and use the cash to build the 93 the way you want.

Just my .02...

Good option, swm63. One thing that holds me back is that I only have one front cowl between the two. They are too dang $$ to replace...

Guess it just depends on what they '90 will fetch.

Nice call. There's a place near me that I'll check. If I can find a take-off cowl, the numbers could be right to build the new one ground up 48v.

You can adjust the linkage from the rack and pinion loosen jam nuts put the tires as straight as you can adjust the drag link till steering wheel is straight run it down a flat road checking the centering of steering wheel may take a few times but easy to do.
