Default 92 Club Car Charging Issue

92 Club Car DS. 48V. After riding off-road I noticed when charging the amp meter would not go below 9. As a result the batteries got hot! Now I have no idea how to troubleshoot. Is it the OBC? BTW: my off-roading did involve some unexpected water - if that makes a difference.

Many Thanks,

Are you sure it is a '92 and/or a 48v? Those came out in '95 and did have OBC's....

fsu1tm advised me to say hello and that I too am a NOLE FAN! (in spite of our showing Monday night).

Decoded the serial # and it shows a 92. Positive on the 48V. I will check the fuse within the yellow caps this evening.

Lol! Yell him Hi. Yeah, that was ugly, but I am faithful that they will turn it around. First time running the "Spread" at FSU, but I am more concerned with the Defense or lack there of....

If the bullet fuse was blown it should not work at all because it would not close in the relay on the charger. If that is an OBC cart, someone may have converted it way back when. Hard to say(?)

The OBC does control the charge algorithm for the Powerdrive Charger. There could be a problem within the OBC itself.
1- What is the Pack voltage when you observe it being hot while charging?
2- Is it a Powedrive Charger?
3- What is the carts Serial #?
4- Can you post a pic of the charger and the batteries?

I'm new to this forum and have not learned how to attach photos. The serial # is AQ03316-276185.. I have 6 batteries each with 4 cells. The charger is a PowerDrive that shows Club Cor on the front. Unfortunately I did not check the voltage when the charger would bot go below 9v.

I have disconnected the two primary points on the battery: pros and neg. I'm charging the battery with a normal battery charger. I had also read that by disconnecting the battery it would reset the OBC (assuming I do have one).

Yep. I don't know where he got '92 from.

I'll get with him this weekend and we'll load test the batteries. That was the first sign I had that my batteries were going.
