Default 1982 CC DS 36V Resistor to 48V solid State

Hello everyone.
I picked up a 1982 Club Car DS 36V resistor cart for $200 and got it running just fine. Now it's time for some upgrades...

Since I need batteries anyway, I'd like to start with keeping the stock 36V Series motor and replacing the resistor controls with a 48V Curtis 1205M-5601 series controller that I picked up for $100.

My question is how do I convert the accelerator pedal from the 5 Microswitch slide to Potientiometer? Is there an adapter kit or recommended setup for this old style?
I'd prefer to keep the cost down if possible.

Thanks

I think I've worked it out for myself.
I'm going to use the existing microswitches and some 1250 Ohm resistors to make a 5k-0 Pot to connect to the pot input of the controller.
I'll only have 4 speeds similar to what I had with the resistor cart setup but this method saves me from having to mess around with the accelerator pedal or any of that expense. Just $.50 of resistors and some wiring.

My schematic is attached in the link below for info.

Doesn't a Curtis 5601 use a 0-5k throttle signal?

It can be programmed in 10 different throttle modes.
I figured 5k-0 is best in case a resistor goes bad or a wire breaks.
I'm going to use Type 1 - 2-wire pot 5k-0 ohms.

You may want to consider doing a little curve on those steps to reduce the inevitable "jerk" as the cart accelerates in steps from a lower speed, perhaps: (1st speed)1.25KΩ, 1KΩ, 1.25KΩ, 1.5KΩ
