Battery Charging Question
Bought a 2002 Club Car today , Batteries are low two bars blinking on dash indicator, "power drive" charger not kicking on, I understand that if the batts are too low the charger won't turn on. How do I charge two batteries at a time to bring them up? Do I need to disconnect them from the cart ? Help a newbie out .........Thanks

Re: Battery Charging Question
I think you have it backwards. If your batteries State OF Charge is too high, then some chargers will not initiate a charge cycle.

Re: Battery Charging Question
You're right about the how the charge works, ridge. The charger has a relay in it that uses a little juice from the batteries to kick on the charger. If they're too dead, it won't come on.
I think you can just put the cart in the "Tow" position to charge the batteries, but I'd disconnect them to be safe. |

Re: Battery Charging Question
Check the fuse between the charger input and batteries. Or it could be the batteries are toast and cannot take a charge. Or the battery charger itself is at fault.

Re: Battery Charging Question
thank you for all the replies, I have ordered six new batteries and am taking the charger in tomorrow for a bench check. I am eventually going to trick out this cart and can see this site is going to be very helpful. Thanks again !

Re: Battery Charging Question
What is the Voltage reading across the entire pack ?
The Charger needs 34 volts across the relay to come on . There is a procedure to bypass the charger relay, search this forum you should find it. |
