Building G1 lift, need to move front forward??
Hey guys, I have been doing a lot of research on here and I know most people move the front end forward when lifting but some dont. My question is, Building a 6" lift and want to use 22" tires. Has anyone lifted this much without moving the front end forward, just trimming the rocker panels? what size tires can you fit. Its not that big of a deal to move everything forward, just wondering what my options are. Any input would be great. Thanks

Re: Building G1 lift, need to move front forward??
Most would say moving the frontend forward while in the design stages of the lift is easier instead of building the lift and then doing body/trimming work afterward.
You will also gain just a little more ride comfort with just a couple of inch longer wheelbase. But to your question, Can it be done? yes, 6" with 22" tires should clear depending on the backspacing of the rims. |

Yes, move everything forward now while you are building it. It's well worth the extra time.

Re: Building G1 lift, need to move front forward??
22-inch tires are pretty big for a G1. If the suspension is not moved forward the front tires may rub on the body on tight turns. A little design work moving the front end forward will save a lot of work cutting up the wheel wells for clearance later on. I have built a lift without moving forward, and 20-inch tires rub. I had to reset the stops so the wheels would not turn as far, but now the buggy will not turn as sharp as before.

We went up 4" and out (forward) 1". It wasnt enough. So, I would say go 1-1/2 to 2" min.
Good luck. |

Re: Building G1 lift, need to move front forward??
I moved mine forward. Probably allot compared to stock. I did not have a front axle on it when I got it. So I dont have anything to compare it too. I just set the wheels up to where i thought it look right. Same goes for the back. I built my own double a arm front end.

Hard to say, I just did a 6 inch on my g16 with 22s and had no problem. Only thing I can offer is call Jakes and ask them. I bought a Jakes lift and I am extremely happy with how it went on. Very quality built product.
