Default Carryall 272 with issue starting. Hit gas, no go

Hi all,

I have a 2006 Carryall 272 with the FE350 motor. When I hit the gas, the motor runs, but it doesn't move. I have to let off the gas, and hit it again quick and then it will take right off. This is the usual procedure to get the cart to move. Once in a while it will take this a couple times of repeating to get moving. I had had it for 3 years, and have only run 91 octane non-ethanol gas in it.

I have replaced a whole bunch of parts recently. Fuel pump, carb, fuel filters, fuel lines, spark plug, ignition coil, air box hose, air filter, vacuum lines, both belts, starter, and more.

I got the cart in rough shape and have been slowly restoring it, and this is the last thing that is very aggravating. I just wanna hit the gas and go. I am not sure where to turn to next. I have looked through several threads, and cannot seem to find this issue. I appreciate any help or send me a link to a thread that may have this.

Thank you

Is the motor actually running or is it just the starter motor turning it over, when it doesn't move

When you say "runs but doesn't move" is the motor starting and revving and not moving or is it just spinning and not starting?

The starter motor is just spinning.

Then I left off the gas, hit it again and the motor fires and it takes off.

does it help pulling the choke? Sounds like a fuel issue to me

No. I did notice, maybe, that if I only push the pedal down slightly it seems to take right off, versus giving it full or half throttle when I jump in.

I'd check the carb over real well. You said you replaced the carb, did you buy an OEM carb or one of the junk cheap chinese ones on Amazon or Ebay? Those chinese knock-offs will frequently cause more problems than they solve.

Also check for air leaks on the intake, and maybe worth checking the fuel pump and lines also to make sure the gas is making it from the tank to the carb.

Try pulling out the choke and hit the gas, and as soon as you hear the motor start to turn over release the choke. See if that helps it fire up?

I'll have to check the carb back over, cannot remember where I got it, with so much new stuff, and it's been going on for a while.

New air box hose, and new fuel pump and lines, vacuum lines, so all that is good.

Makes no difference when I pull the choke, it might make it worse in the sense it doesn't do anything when I pull the choke.
