99 ds will alltrax increase speed?
I have a 99 48 volt ds cart. New batteries. Newly rebuilt 5 HP motor.
Cart goes 17 mph. Since the cart has a 5 hp motor, i thought it would be faster, but it is not, 17 mph max. My question is, if i was install an alltrax controller, replacing the stock curtis 1204 ( if i remember correctly), will just installing an alltrax controller, make this cart faster? If so, what controller, will get more speed? How much speed? Cart is 4 passenger stock 8" tires. |

Series motors cannot get out of their own way to go faster, no controller will make it go faster.

High speed gears have been my choice on several series carts that I have built. The results have been great. The last one was a '98 CC DS with a custom Mustang body, changing to high speed gears gave me 24mph clocked with my GPS with two people aboard. All stock with new batteries and 2ga. cables. My California Roadster is also a series cart with high speed gears and it clocks out at 27mph with two people.😎
