Default Fe350 rpm

Question for those that have tach installed. My 2005 FE350 came with a 'high speed rear'. Pushes 30+ MPH. Have a tach installed and typically get reading of around 3000-3800 rpm. Does this sound about right? Not sure if I set tach up correctly.
Thanks.
