Default G16A not charging

Hi, new here. I have a 2000 G16A that has 4.6V return to battery. Battery replaced due to age. S/G replaced to remedy a no start problem. Solenoid replaced due to age. VR replaced to remove from equation. Cart ran great after changing S/G, but evidently on battery alone. Replacement S/G required reversal of wires because it attempted to crank backward. What am I missing guys, other than 10 more volts return?

Was this an aftermarket starter/gen? I've heard those are not real good.

Do you still have the Yamaha starter/gen? I think those can be rebuilt. They are much better units than the aftermarket ones.

And what about all the other parts, Yamaha or aftermarket?

So many aftermarket parts in the mix, you might as well reinstall all the old parts & start over. You have "killed the messenger" with 60 new parts up in the mix. (None of which worked 100% right).

We'll help ya through it, but, theres so many unknown aftermarket variables right now, we cant do squat.

The aftermarket parts vary so much, it's like saying "I installed a Kia alternator on my Ford, and it doesnt work" , yeah, it's that crazy.

Hearing "it's actually discharging my battery, instead of charging it" is quite common with aftermarket starter/generators.
