G9 will not accelerate
Looking for some tips with my G9. It will not accelerate acts as if it is not getting gas. Makes somewhat of a puffing sound. Any ideas out there. I'm not very mechanical but hoping to give it a try.

Re: G9 will not accelerate
Welcome!!
Pull the fuel line off the carb and see if the fuel pump is pumping. |

Re: G9 will not accelerate
Ok checked the fuel pump, it is pumping. By the way, I noticed that when the choke is pulled it seems to accelerate more. Any other ideas to check?

Re: G9 will not accelerate
sounds like there is crap in the carb, i would pull the carb and give it a good cleaning and then blow it out with air.

Re: G9 will not accelerate
Okay, couple quick questions. Any tips on how take it out (possibly pics). Another question is there a fuel filter that could be changed? If so not sure where it is located.
Thanks.... |

Re: G9 will not accelerate
well if you have not played with a carb in the past it may be best to remove it and have a shop clean it for you. the filter will be in the fuel line some were between the tank and the carb.

Re: G9 will not accelerate
its not that hard to do but there are some small parts in there that need to come out and go back in just right.

Re: G9 will not accelerate
On a stock G9 the fuel filter is in the bottom of the fuel tank, inside. You have to get the "cap" off, where the fuel line comes out of the tank, by turning counter clockwise, it's just threaded on but can be a real pain. Those filters can get dirty/ corroded and need to be checked. Most people remove them and put an inline filter in, much easier to deal with.......
