Default Ezgo TXT 36V to 48V Navitis Upgrade

Ok… Hello everyone! I have a 2004 ezgo txt frame that I am rebuilding. I have a few questions… I have a navitis 440 controller, Admiral DC motor combo. I also ordered a new 48v solenoid, high amp F & R switch, and new 4 Gauge wires. The cart was 36 volts before but I’m switching it to 48 volts. My question is about the charging port. I need to order a new charger for it so would it be smart to just change the charging port from the old D shaped 36 volt one to a 48 volt like the ones on the rxv?? Any help would be great! Thanks!

For all 36 to 48v conversions note the 36v chargers generally send a max 20 amp current to the batteries while a 48v charger typically sends about 15-17 amps max. In all cases the 36v charge receptacle can handle the 48v assuming it is in good condition.

So something like this from Amazon would work if I bought a 48 volt charger and attached the plug to it??

The reason I’m asking is because I already have the port and plug from Amazon. Should I send it back and just get the 48 volt rxv plug and get a 48 volt charger to match?? Just not sure which is the best option? Thank you

That port will work fine with 48 volts. Only issue you might have is if someone plugged in a 36 volt charger. It would probably be okay but just wouldn’t work. The original port would have worked also.

I vote go on-board and replace the port with a 110v receptacle.

I would have but the original one was snapped off. I had already ordered this 36 volt one before I decided to switch to 48 volt. From what everyone is saying I should be ok using the one I ordered so I’m just going to go with it!! Thank you everyone!!

That is correct I have literally hundreds of customers using that plug and receptacle for 48v for many years. You will be fine - Especially with a new one !
GL with the project
