Default Clutch Chatter - 94 DS Gas

My cart has always had a bad chatter or clutch vibration when starting out. The problem is exaggerated when starting out on a hill or fully loaded.
The belt *looks* okay although it is a few years old.
Before throwing parts at it, I was hoping someone has had a similar experience and what the fix was.
Thanks,
Mike

its the front clutch. more than likely the weights inside it. or the taper is shot due to lack of grease.

Welcome to BGW kellett5261!

Most likely the drive clutch "Buttons" are worn, and are readily available from most suppliers for a reasonable price,
might as well order a "Thrust Washer" with them, the buttons and washer are 2 of the most common "wear parts" in the CC drive clutch.
(Getting a drive clutch puller with the buttons and washer would also be a good idea!)

Note: do NOT grease anything in CC drive clutches, they are designed to run dry to prevent dust and debris build up.
(although a VERY LIGHT coat of white lithium grease on the buttons won't hurt.)

From my buddies 94 DS... click pics to enlarge:

i actually got mine off without a puller. it was NOT easy by any means and the old clutch is destroyed. that clutch was so pitted and had lots of cracks in it already so i was not going to re-use it anyway.

new clutch is in and takes off like a banshee. lost some speed but trying to figure out the years of mods the previous owner to make the governer work as it should.
