AMD 7144 Motor
Looking at new motors.
2013 Precedent Excel. Lift, rear seat, 20" tiers. Alltrax XCT 500, heavy duty solenoid, and 2 gauge cables. Currently have factory motor. The controller has given me a little more speed and torque but I'm still slowing down too much on hills. There are a few users here who seem to like to and 7144. The D&D 502:2 has also been recommended. I'm right at 23mph now on flat ground. I'd like to be around 25-26mph and over 20mph on hills. If possible I'd like to retain regen braking. Would like some feedback from anybody who has a similar set up. Thanks!!! |

Re: AMD 7144 Motor
I've got the same cart, but stock controller and wires. I've got a plum quick bandit and the cart goes 27 MPH with me and my wife on it. About 18 MPH up small hills. This is with crappy 4 year old batteries. They did say I would lose regen braking but it still stops very quickly just letting of the throttle.
Not to hijack your thread but I'm looking at the alltrax 500 xct also. Does it fit in the stock location well or did you have to do some modification? |

I turned off regen braking today and found out I may be over having to have it. It was nice not having such a jerky response every time I let off accelerator. I'm getting up to 18-19mph up hills now, just takes a while to get there. I've read great things about the bandit but in the end I don't think it will be enough. I've been looking at the assassin. Anybody able to say what kind of torque gains can be expected with this motor. Also is that the same as the bandit where I send my motor first to rebuild or is it a new motor? |

Re: AMD 7144 Motor
I don't have the Alltrax, but have the Curtis 1269 and the AMD 7144 motor.
My max speed on the flat is 38mph with std gearing and 22" tires. Great motor! |

Re: AMD 7144 Motor
Please note that in my earlier post I miss-typed the controller model. I have a Curtis 1268, not a 1269.
It slows down a little, but not much. I don't have big hills here, but I can do 30mph up the hills I do have. Motor has good torque. I do have my Curtis 1268 set for 500 amps. I generally don't exceed 30mph, even downhill. I want my motor to last a while. The speed of 38 mph was a test run on a flat road to see what the motor/controller combination would do. I also have a PQ executioner motor and it tested at 35 mph with the same controller settings. For the price, the AMD 7144 is a very good buy. YMMV |

Re: AMD 7144 Motor
Thanks txpres. Do you know what rpm's the motor is turning at 30. I saw specs where the horsepower rating is obtained around 5100 rpm's. Wouldn't the motor have to be turning much faster than that to get those speeds. Thanks! I also sent you a pm

Re: AMD 7144 Motor
At my max speed, the motor is exceeding its max rpm rating by a lot. At 30 mph, it is probably at about 6000 rpm.

Re: AMD 7144 Motor
So I bought the AMD 7144 motor. I have not installed it yet. I have the alltrax xct 500 amp controller. I sent an email to alltrax asking them to send me a field map. No reply. Is that anything different than the setting I can adjust myself. Can I install the motor w/o having the right field map? Thanks!
