Whoop whoopshe powers up when I run a jumper from reed valve to battery pack..does the reed valve function as a fuse? Can I run the cart until I get a new valve installed?

The purpose of the reed switch was to disable the cart when the charger is connected. (A magnet in the charger plug, open the reed switch.)

The reed switch caused so many customer complaints that EZGO stopped installing them in later years. Most forum members just bypass them when they fail, and the smarter ones bypass them before they fail.

If driving away with the charge plugged into the cart might be an issue, run the charger cable through the steering wheel when charging the cart.

I jumped red wire to battery pack and solenoid clicked and cart is getting power. My switch doesn't look like the one in the photo you sent. I tried to send you a photo but couldn't......"

EZGO used different reed switches over the years.

👍 we should have had you to check that first, but sometimes I just assume they have all been bypassed by now. Just bypass and ride. Glad it wasn't the controller!

Well--I connected the red wire from the charger receptacle directly to the + terminal of the battery pack, tightened everything down and now have nothing again when key is switched to on. No click--nothing! I'm pulling my hair out here..do you have any idea what's going on. I'm going nuts.

JohnnieB--I'm getting no power at ignition switch. Checked switch with ohm meter and its opening and closing. I bypassed reed switch and have power to red wired coming from charging receptacle. Also checked voltage on the terminal charge post and have 37.6v.
