Default Powerdrive2 Charger not working

Went to golf today and cart was not fully charged. Charger was off and the circuit breaker on charger was tripped. So I unplugged charger from cart and reset breaker, plugged cord into the cart, the charger clicked but charger did not start and breaker tripped again. So to eliminate that the cart was not a issue I plugged in my friends charger into the cart and it worked so I know it is the charger. Where do I start?

Well, must be a solar storm or something. Plugged mine in today and it gave up. It clicked, hummed, but didn't register any amps on the meter. Time to find a new charger.

1. Check the the diode inside the charger for continuity. It should only have continuity one direction. (Diodes only allow flow of electrons on way)

At the charger!

Start with bypassing the circuit breaker with an appropriately sized fuse and see if it blows too. Breakers can get weak with age...

Tahoedawg at revolution golf carts sells a kit that replaces the relay, circuit breaker, and rectifier for about $25. About the only thing left in there would be the transformer. I just put one in a couple weeks ago and it solved my problem.

If ya disconnect everything downstream of the transformer's output side and it still blows then the tranny is dead... Just call Fred!

The chargers are fairly easy to fix...buy the repair kit...do one component at a time and keep your eyes open for any signs of high heat or bad wires while you are working on it...I have repaired about 10 of them now and only found one bad transformer...that charger was badly abused by a customer too cheep to buy batteries when he needed them...as long as it's unplugged there is no danger.

The repair kit should fix it, but while you're in there you might as well replace all three pieces. The rectifier is the failed component.

Update: Received the kit from TahoeDawgZ71 yesterday. It took about 15 minutes to swap out components and charger is up and running. Thanks again for the help.
